Baseball season has b
egun, and this year is completely different than last year. Last year Wyatt played t-ball. For those who are unfamiliar with what that is, the players hit the ball off of a tee. And the rules that they played by were fundamentally baseball, but twisted in order for the kids to have fun while learning the basics. This year that has all gone out the window. Gone are the days were everyone bats and runs all the bases with the last batter hitting a "home run" because he gets to run the bases in one shot. Gone are the days when they get 2 at bats and 2 fielding and then the game is over. Gone are the days when outs don't matter and the score is non-exsistent. This year they are keeping score, the have to get the 3 outs, there is no tee to hold the ball steady so the each get a hit (the coaches pitch the ball---each player gets 5 pitches or 3 strikes---which ever comes first), the play four innings (or an hour) and t
he score does matter. So the results of tonights game: the White Sox won 1 to nothing. But this wasn't because our team the Cubs didn't try their hardest. Wyatt was one of the lucky ones and actually got up to bat twice. The first time he nicked the ball twice and hit them foul before striking out and the second was just a complete strike out. He played what I think was supposed to be left field, but was standing more into the base line between second and first. For his first game of the season, he did really well. He took all of it in stride and shook off the strike out, and he will be back better next time. For the next game he seems to be determined to get that hit. So we will see how things go as the season progresses. Good Game Wyatt and keep up the hustle.

I'm curious if your town's little league schedules games on Sunday. All of the sports leagues schedule games and practices on Sundays, so we've opted out of the leagues. It's kind of sad, because I know that the kids would really enjoy the experience and they are getting older so the chance to jump in as a beginner will be more difficult.
Also, do you have a lot of practices to attend? How do you manage that with your other kids? Do you stay at practices or do just drop off Wyatt?
